Ike's Famous Turmeric Tea

So, my great friend Ike just came to visit and with him, he brought many gifts to share - but my favorite gift that he brought was his turmeric tea recipe (well, that and his top-notch pot).

Pouring Tea.
Tea Time. Tea that heals you.

While preparing the tea he kindly explained to me that anything steeped can be a "tea" and that actual tea leaves are NOT a requirement. I had questions, people. He went on and on about how fabulous this tea was as a preventative, herbal, natural, delicious, everyday drinking concoction. Once I tasted it - I was sold.

Ingredients:

  • 1/8 c Fresh ginger - peeled and cut against the grain to open up ginger for steeping (even grating would be good!)

  • 1/8 c fresh turmeric peeled and cut against the grain

  • 6 cups of spring water (obviously any water would work)

  • 1 Tblsp organic ground ginger

  • 1 Tblsp organic ground turmeric

  • 1/2 Tbls organic ground cinnamon

  • 1 lemon juiced (juice lemon the throw entire lemon into steeping tea)

  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper (this is a very important ingredient as it inhibits metabolic break down of the turmeric in the gut and liver)

Throw these ingredients into a vat of water you bring to a boil and voila, strain and serve - it couldn't get much easier than that.

Honey to taste (or you can leave this out altogether)

Benefits of drinking this tea include but are not limited to;
