'V' is for

 voluntary

If we are self-owners (and it is absurd to imagine that we are not), neither an individual, nor a majority, nor a government can have rights of ownership of other humans.

Voluntaryists

  • oppose the initiation of force to achieve social or political goals.

  • They reject “first-strike” force, fraud or theft against others; they only use force in self-defense.

  • Those who violate this “non-aggression principle” are expected to make their victims whole as much as possible.

This “Good Neighbor Policy” is what most of us were taught as children. We were told not to lie, cheat, steal, not to strike others unless they hit us first. Most of us still practice what we learned as children with other individuals. Except we have quickly grown accustomed to allowing government aggress against others when we think we benefit. Consequently, our world is full of poverty and strife, instead of the harmony and abundance that freedom  [from aggression] brings.

Can You Imagine Living This Way Is Now Considered A Terrorist Threat?

No Peaceful Nonaggressive Human Can Be Submitted to the Control of Others,
Apart from His Own Consent

the essence of libertarianism is the non-aggression principle.

We may reasonably believe that an individual, as a self-owner, is morally justified in defending the rights he possesses in himself and in his own property — by force, if necessary, against force (and fraud), but he cannot be justified in using force for any other purpose whatsoever.

The Moral Rights of a Delegated Body, Such as a Government, Can Never Be Greater than the Moral Rights of the Individuals Who Delegated to It Its Power.

If a government is created by the individuals of a Nation then Governments are only machines; they are only delegated bodies, delegated by the individuals, and therefore they cannot have higher moral rights for using force. In fact, the government cannot have ANY moral rights than the individuals who delegate them don't also have.

Force can only be used (whether by an individual or by a Government makes no difference) for defensive purposes — Not for Aggressive Purposes

Which is where the 'Non-Aggression Principle' comes in to play. A cornerstone for a voluntaryist viewpoint. That, aggression be reserved for defense purposes ONLY!

Taxation is theft

Taxes are a form of involuntary exchange, and are synonymous with theft. Without the initiation of force, taxes would cease to exist. Taxes are not subject to voluntary negotiation between buyer and seller, but rather they consist of a third party forcefully intervening in a transaction to extract an arbitrary amount.

Taxes are essentially opposed to any state of true liberty. Liberty is synonymous with freedom and how can you ever truly be "FREE" when you are forced under threats of violence to give a portion of your life away.

It is impossible to look at a man as free, so long as others have unlimited command over him, his actions, and his property.

A man acts through and by means of the various substances of the world, and if he is not free to acquire and own these substances as an individual, then he is not free to act as an individual.
